I just found out that Crisis at Ishtar was voted #2 for Sci Fi story of the year. I want to thank everyone who read and voted, not just for my story, but all the stories out there. I remember years ago watching a performer at a Renaissance faire saying that the greatest reward he received was the applause and laughter that came from the audience. I have found that for writers it is the same, feedback good or bad is our greatest reward, and to see that readers found my work interesting enough to vote on is a humbling accolade.
I'll be honest, I didn't even realize that Crisis was nominated. I had started posting back in 2012, so I thought it wasn't eligible and hadn't checked.
Anne and I have continued to work on Family Letters. (in fact its my turn to write a letter). We have been a bit surprised by the voting, since the story is still just developing, but I can say we really enjoy the writing. It's been a true adventure.
And for those who ask, I can't say where exactly the story is going. Part of the whole process is an agreement that Anne and I don't really coordinate the letters or the plot. We are each writing one part of the story and reacting to the responses as well as the story the other author comes up with. Things change constantly for us and I think both of us are surprised by the changes. I do know that ideas I have often change as we add more letters.
I do have other stories in work, including another Swarm Cycle epic, but I can't say when any will appear, or if they will appear here. Any Swarm Cycle stories will, but other tales are likely to show up at Amazon someday.
Hope you are enjoying the tale.
