My apologies for the delay in posting the next chapter in this story. We had a medical scare in our family and it has been a full time job trying to get it resolved. What should have been a simple appointment and procedure has turned into a major battle with the new medical reality.
In a nutshell, my wife's aunt has lived with us for over 15 years. She's 86 years old. She had internal bleeding. Because of the turmoil and mandated changes in medical care in the last six months, (told in private from a nurse) she couldn't be scheduled for the tests to find out what was wrong for over three weeks out, and she nearly died. When she could no longer walk and was shitting blood, we took her to the hospital emergency room.
For those of you that believe in the new medical rules and the unintended consequences, or maybe they were intended; you have blinders on. I truly hope you or someone you care about doesn't get seriously sick before this national mess we have in our health care system can be repaired. Everybody's talking about the medical insurance changes but very few are talking about how the insurance impacts the medical community itself. The insurance situation is simply the surface that the majority of American's see. Once you start looking under that surface, it gets very scary.
