Life, going on

A hale and hearty greeting to all. It's been a while, and the years have taught me that people wonder what's going on when it's been a while.

So I thought I'd give you an update on how life is proceeding for me, and what you can expect.

There was a period of some several months where the urge to write was absent. That happens from time to time, and I don't worry about it. Actually, most of that time was spent responding to the theatrics of Amazon, which un-published about fifteen or so of my books because they "didn't meet Amazon's standards."

This, though Amazon had already sold several hundred copies of each.

All of that springs from the uproar some people in the UK started, when they saw some of the titles Amazon was selling. These people in the UK splashed those titles and book covers all over the tabloids, and Amazon couldn't take the heat. So they caved. You can no longer use the following words in your title, the description of the book, or the cover of the book: Sister, Mommy, Daddy, Daughter, Brother, and so on. Anything that even hints at incest violates Amazon's standards, whether the book is about incest or not.

They even put the kibosh on my use of the word "sibling" in a description.

So I had to jump through a bunch of hoops to "clean up" the unpublished books, and get them back in the active list.

And, to be brutally honest, I was mad most of the time, and I'm not interested in working on new projects when I'm mad.

However, time passes, and even Amazon goes away, eventually. Except for the two books they just unpublished yesterday. I'm not even going to try to put them back up. One was "The Bad Bet" in case you're wondering. Turns out they actually read the book, and found the incest in the last quarter. I don't know whether to be proud or not. I suppose somebody who bought it might have complained. That wouldn't surprise me, since you can't give the potential reader any shred of information that says they might run into something like that.

Anyway, I have a new one finished, and Andy has it, so that one should start getting posted on Monday 3 Feb 14. The working title, at present is "Mamma Mia - or How I ended up in Bullies Anonymous." It's six chapters long, so it should play out over a single week.

Then I'm well along on another one called "Can You See Me Now?" which is an idea I got from a reader who goes by "Dr. Raoul Duke". It's going to be much longer and, for those of you who write and go on and on about how much you like a slow buildup, this one will be for you. I'll just go ahead and warn you now. I think there are ten chapters before there is any actual sex.

After that, there are three other projects all squealing for attention. And that doesn't count the fifteen or twenty story ideas that I just muzzled so they wouldn't distract me.

So things are moving along.

Just thought some of you might want to know.

Thanks for reading.
