First, many thanks to those of you wrote me to give me some feedback!
I've updated the genre of the "Hard Times" story to "coming of age". I think BDSM scared some people. There are elements of submission but I received one email from someone equating BDSM to violence.
I responded that BDSM relationships are not "violence" and that someone misinformed them completely about power exchange. He may have been thinking of true torture and abuse and that isn't what this story is about.
I realized I might change the genre to coming of age, since that is really what is happening to Ellen.
Now on to the contest:
If you submit feedback, you can write a "Letter to Ted".
This letter may be featured in "Hard Times" (and you will not get author credit, and by submitting are freely offering it creatively to be added to the story).
It will be something a person put in Ted's trailer door for him to read - possibly asking for his advice.
Something like this:
"Ted, I have a daughter who is almost worst than those girls you are dealing with..." and goes on to list off the things she has done and what the father or mother has done about it. Then it asks Ted his advice.
It might ask other questions or comments - be creative.
If I use your letter, I will also create an 'alter-ego' featuring you in the story if you want. You will have to tell me a little about you physically, and personality wise and I will have you become a character in the story.
