Magic Ink V, Chapters 23 & 24

The new chapters have been sent to the Moderators for posting.

This weeks chapters open with Mark fixing a problem with the finance department. He then transfers to Mount Sterling with Jeremy and Fredrick. Later he takes Fredrick to Gilmore's Station.

Returning from Gilmore's, Station they have lunch and Mark questions Jeremy and Fredrick about military customs and their prisoner. Various options are discussed before deciding to turn the prisoner over to the Adjutant at his Regimental Headquarters at Fort Henry.

The Adjutant is distressed at having to deal with them but soon sends the prisoner off under guard. Returning to Hickory Hill, Mark discovers that stable hands have been hired.

There are more surprises at dinner that evening in the form of cooks and laundry women. Later at the operations meeting various plans are discussed before Mark transfers to Fort Jefferson to meet Captain Moore. Gwyn and Sererena go with him.

Samuel Moore returns to Hickory Hill with them so he can go inspect Gilmore's Station in the morning. Gwyn and Glanda monopolize his company that night. In the morning, he and Mark go to inspect Gilmore's Station. On returning they discover two platoons of Rangers have arrived at Hickory Hill.

Mark takes the Rangers through the Portal to Fort Washington where they will be stationed. There are a number of questions from the Rangers.

That night at dinner there are questions about what to do with the Rangers, who was going on patrol with them, and food for the new men plus other topics. Sererena and Saraid have Samuel Moore that night.

The Continental Regimental Commander, Colonel Simon Thayer, is a historical figure and fought in the Revolutionary War. He retired after the War in our Reality but not in the Third Reality.
