I seldom give a plug to authors. Of course, I speak highly of my favorites, but occasionally something new comes along and I want to encourage a budding talent. In this case, ShebaGirl posted her first story today: "The Day Jerry Garcia Died." It's a short story and I know a lot of you don't read anything that isn't twenty chapters or more, but this is worth taking a look at.
I read an early version of the story that SG sent me a month ago. I encouraged her to polish it up and post it. She did and it's a strong slice of life story that is definitely written from a woman's point of view. It has two strong, believable characters and good feeling for the peripheral people. You don't know what every person's story is, but they fit together.
So here's my tip of the day. It will only take you ten or fifteen minutes to read her story. Take the time and let her know what you think. We could be seeing a lot more from this new author.
