Voting vs Feedback

In my opinion as a writer, the voting and scores on SOL are pretty much worthless. While a single "1" vote won't kill the cumulative score, a few 2s or 3s trolls can take a story down just out of whatever twisted spite they operate.

Worse, the votes really don't tell me anything, except that some people really like my work, some sorta like it, and others just want to take a shit.

How am I supposed to learn anything from that?

But feedback means something. It is the chance for readers to tell me what they really think -- anonymously if they want if they fear my reaction.

Really, I don't bite.

They can complain, critique, applaud or even take a verbal dump if they so choose.

It seems to me, if someone can take a moment to vote they can also take a moment for a few words of praise or condemnation. Go ahead! Take the opportunity to tell me what you really think! I can take it.
