What happened to "The Catalyst"?

In case you haven't noticed, I've removed my first story (all three books of it), from both SOL and ASSTR in order to make revisions. Once it's finished, I'll repost the entire thing. Since I'm renaming and repackaging the story (now 5 books instead of 3) I need to remove the earlier copy, and since it doesn't make sense to allow people to read the older, less refined copy, and I want to build expectations for the new version, it makes sense to remove it now.

I'd mentioned a couple times that I was preparing to do this, so you may not be surprised, but I wanted to explain for anyone that was looking for it.

There are a lot of reasons for this decision -- I've wanted to rewrite it for a long time -- but I've been putting it off for a long time because there's SO much work involved in it. What's more, since I've changed how I write, trying to complete and polish the story instead of writing it on the fly, it now takes much longer between postings. The decision to revise this older series was helped since it now looks like it will be a while before I'm ready to post the next story ("Building a Legacy", the final Catalyst book). By posting the cleaned up versions of the earlier material, it will allow me to continue posting material while I'm finishing the new book, and once that's done, begin work on "Great Death" 3.

Since there are some 104 chapters in all 3 books, it'll take a while to post, so I'm planning on speeding up the postings by posting 2 chapters each week (Tuesday and Thursday, like I used to do when I was posting both Catalyst 3 and Great Death 1). -- After my 'test' this week, I'll probably switch this to Wednesday/Saturday instead. --

Having wrestled with trying to independently publish the Great Death books, I've realized they're each much too long, so I've cut books 2 (47 chapters) and 3 (41 chapters), to make each book roughly 20 chapters long, but the breaks are actually more natural now.

While I realize this is an imposition, I figured it made no sense for my fans to reread the older versions while waiting for new material. Unfortunately, while this will make the entire story a better read, it'll make getting the time required to get new stories out even longer. <sigh>

For those not as interested in rereading the original story as much as the sequel, I plan to make each book available as an eBook, so as soon as it's ready, i'll make it available so you don't have to wait for the entire story to post before finishing it. Otherwise, you can read it all for free just as you normally do.

It's typical of me that I'd try to cope with having too much work to do by doing MORE, but that's just me I guess. Not only am I tackling multiple jobs, but I'm also revising how I write the story, learning as I go, so the writing should improve as well (descriptions, dynamic scenes, etc.)

But I'm hoping to start about the time I finish "Grappling".
