Well, it took a while. About four or five years, in fact. But it's finally done and the first two chapters are posted.
I said in a previous entry that it was 20 or so chapters, but some of those were pretty short, so I rearranged things and now it only has 17. I'll post two on each posting day and it will be finished before the holidays get here.
This is one of the two remaining "memory" stories. I started out with For Want of a Memory and then added Mistrusting a Memory I had these other two ideas about memory loss, but I held off on them, instead of doing a long string of stories where people lost their memory. Then, later, I did Any Soldier, which was yet another idea I got about memory loss.
So this one sat around, on the back burner. But I thought it was a good idea, and I wanted to finish it, so I did.
It's a western, as is the other one that still isn't finished. Who knows when you'll see that one, if ever. It's about a quarter written.
But I digress. The point is that this story was written over a period of four or five years, in bits and pieces. So all the growing I did in all those years may be visible from the front to the back of this book.
Then again, I've edited it half a dozen times, and Andy and Michelle looked at it too, before I did one more final edit, so maybe it will be coherent.
I hope you like it. I do. I like the characters, and they're going to go places and do things that might surprise you.
I hope so.
Thanks for reading.
