Wow! What a ride this month has been. I've barely stayed ahead of the daily output needed to post a chapter of "A Painful Silence" each day. I keep about a day or two ahead. Looking at my outline, I'm entering the endgame. The players are all in place and the big climax is set up.
Do I like the story? Mostly. As I've written, I've discovered several things that needed to be in the first chapter that didn't make it. I might have bent too far into the romantic in chapters 19-21, making it sound like a happily-ever-after story, but of course I can always destroy happiness. Not that I will. In fact, there is a victory on the horizon, it just leaves them all changed people. We can hope for the better, but there's no guarantee. In a romance, there's happily ever after. In a thriller, there's hope for survival.
I'll keep the story open until the end of the year, then switch it to Premium Members Only. That is because the revised version will be submitted to a literary competition and then to a publisher after the first of the year.
Tony, Kate, Lissa, Melody, Wendy, Bree, Whitney, Rio, Sandra, Amy, Sonia, Amanda, and June continue to call to me. I have eight more chapters ready to post and five more to be written in that grand adventure. I'm really looking forward to getting back to them. Right now we're loaded through Christmas Eve and it's kind of cool that the story is pretty Christmassy and New Yearsy until about the week before. If you are expecting something specific, have patience. There are another hurdle or two to be crossed for our intrepid lovers.
I'm speaking to a group on Sunday, so I need to get my notes ready for them. The following Saturday, I'm hosting some guys for breakfast to celebrate, then heading to the NaNoWriMo TGIO party. The holiday season is too busy for me, but I'll still carve out my precious writing time.
Hope you had a great Thanksgiving if your country celebrates that day and if not, that you find something every day to be thankful for. I appreciate all your good wishes.
