I have managed to keep up with a new chapter each day for "A Painful Silence." Some of them have truly been painful. Last night, I had Chapter 4 finished but kept falling asleep as I was getting it ready to upload. Then up early this morning (thanks to daylight saving time ending) and formatted it to submit. Went immediately to work on Chapter 5, which has some difficult portions in it because it is an arbitration/trial and I have little experience in that area. But it is progressing and the story is now 12,000 words in length.
I've asked people to score the story during the first two weeks using the TPA or Extended scoring form. This is really helping me get a feel for what people think of the story. At the same time, I've never had such a wide range of scores in such a short time as I've had for this story. People love it (six 10s out of 26 scores) or hate it (a 4, a 5, and four 6s). The sum score has bounced around between 7 and 8. Remember that if you have comments on the story, please send me email. This is a great time for me to pick up added pieces of information, develop characters more fully, and better set the scene. I appreciate it.
Triptych is posting automagically on Monday and Thursday, usually around 8:00 p.m. Eastern. I have to say that, while I'm enthusiastic about the new story, I really miss working with Tony, Lissa, Melody, and Kate each day and can't wait to get back to continuing that story in December.
I've posted a couple new interviews since starting Part II of Triptych, but at the moment it is very difficult to squeeze out time to write up more of them while I'm pumping out 2,500-3,000 words a day on a new story. I will be pretty sporadic in posting the interviews, but am excited to have revealing interviews with Wendy, Rio, and Whitney coming up soon.
Finally, I wanted to thank all of you who have purchased Model Student eBooks for Kindle or Nook. October saw record sales for me, both in this genre and in the others that I publish. Thank you so much for that extra vote of confidence! You can find my books by searching for "Devon Layne" on either site.
