Trip to Happy Valley

I've been lucky enough to spend a few days in State College this week. I was able to visit a couple of my favorite restaurants up here.

I had dinner at Herwig's Austrian Bistro last night. The Tiroler Grostl (potato & onion hash with pork and bacon) was excellent. Berndt didn't need to hit me with his wooden spoon. I cleaned my plate. You got to love a place that advertises 'Bacon is a seasoning here.'

I finished a fantastic dinner at Spats tonight. Their Crab Cakes Orleans were the best I've ever had... and I've had the excellent crab cakes at Woody's in Northeast, MD. I had to laugh at what they posted on their website: 'Where bacon is NOT a seasoning.' I love the interplay between two of the best restaurants on College Avenue.

I keep plugging away at my next story, "A Reluctant Hero." It is set in Al Steiner's A Perfect World/Greenies Universe. This will not a be long story, like Lost and Found and Drive for Excellence. I plan to complete the story before I begin posting. Check here and on the Yahoo Story Announce website for news when I begin posting the story.
