That's it for this one

This morning I uploaded the final chapter of "The Art & Science of Love." This story has been floating around in my head for years and it is a great feeling to have it completely out and being read. And I am gratified that it has been downloaded well over 5000 times and has scored highly in both general and TPA ratings. I can't say I've ever had that level of enthusiasm shown for what I wrote.

So what is to come? I'm working on a project I started nearly 20 years ago, but many things prevented its conclusion. It was the original project that created the persona of "My Lovely Assistant Rita" and got me thinking about writing a racy novel. The book is tentatively titled "Blackjack. Blackmail. Blacklist." It takes place in the early 90s, before Vegas was turned into a ten-mile long theme park and while Reno was still the "Biggest Little City in the World." Here's the blurb:

Jeff Foster, a programmer in the booming computer software industry, is injured in a motorcycle accident. While laid up in bed playing Blackjack on a computer, Jeff develops a winning system. He convinces his poker buddies, his wife, his nurse, and a former professor to create a team to play blackjack in Reno. When the casino management steps in to take a look at Jeff's system, the team is made an offer it can't refuse.

One by one, the team receives blackmail threats. The revelation of a drunk driving episode, a draft-dodger, a pornographer, an unfaithful spouse, and tax evasion are all fodder for the blackmailer who seems intent on being the only one to reap the rewards of the team's gambling success.

The only path for the team to escape being blacklisted by the casinos is to win a tournament set up at the Reno Flamingo. But if they do win, they stand to lose all they've gained to the blackmailer.

Of course, there has to be some sex in this story, and if you are a fan of "The Art & Science of Love," you'll discover an episode featuring Rita every few chapters and will find a few of the "real life" episodes that inspired the writing. There won't be sex every chapter, but it will be a fun story. I expect to start posting it late in February.

In the meantime, I'm happy that there are updates coming in from three of my favorite series/authors. Jay Cantrell posts two chapters of "Daze in the Valley" on Mondays. Crumbly Writer posts a chapter in "Racing the Clock" the third in "The Catalyst" series on Tuesdays. Invid_Fan is bringing his "Love Unexpected" series and his "Out of the Aether" series together with the new story "Violets Are..." I'm not sure what his posting schedule is yet, but he usually gets these stories out pretty quickly. While you are waiting for BBB, join me in reading these great authors.
