Most of my recent stories are only suitable for ASSTR (http://www.asstr.org/files/Authors/Sterling/). But after writing "You Want to So Much, I Can Tell" involving a young girl, a colleague pointed out that the story would work pretty well if the girl was 14 and thus be eligible for SOL. I was unenthusiastic at first, since doubling the age makes it feel like a pretty different story to me.
But then I realized that this different story was also fun, and could be told with a lot fewer edits than one might think. So I posted the Canadian edition. Although relatively few words changed, I looked at every one of them, and the girl now really *is* 14 (albeit exceptionally naive), not just masquerading as a 14-year-old.
And while I'm at it, here's a big long raspberry cheer for the Canadian law, and a limerick:
O send me your prose that enchants
With tales of sex and romance
But leave out the scenes
With girls not yet teens
The prudes are all peeing their pants!
