One of my favorite books is "The Catcher in the Rye".
I decided in Chapter 24 of Family Feud III to do an 'homage' to it.
One of the main characters is a lot like Holden Caufield's character. This chapter is an excerpt from his journal.
I purposely used themes from Catcher in the Rye, even quotes. I changed their context to have to do with my story as an homage to the book.
I would be curious if you think that is interesting/enjoyed it?
I believe it is the best chapter I've ever written. I am really proud of it. I tried to emulate where I could the style of writing in J.D. Salinger's book for this chapter.
I would be curious if there is a female equivalent to Holden Caufield's character with a book of her own?
At the end of the chapter, I take the title quote from Catcher in the Rye and allude to Chris's belief that he would like to straighten out young women who are on the wrong path in life, going over the edge. Spank their asses and set them straight.
I wonder if that comes across?
