Update and request for assistance

Hello to all my patient friends and readers. My last blog entry said I was going to spend 2011 working on longer and more complicated stories. And that's true. But in the interests of full disclosure ...

I got distracted.

So I thought I'd tell you about it, because, to a large extent, it's all you guys out there who are responsible for it.

Last year, when January rolled around, I took some time to send things to publishers and try to jump through their hoops. It didn't work. If you're interested, you can look through old blog entries, because I talked about it a bit.

And a lot of you told me not to lose faith, and that I was good enough to be published. More than one of you suggested self publishing.

So, in January of this year, when I was taking a break after the big finish of 2010, I started going through some of my more popular mainstream stories and "renovating" them so that they (hopefully) meet the terms and conditions of the Kindle Store. They are "kinder, gentler" versions of the books, with less rude names for things. I like to call them "The versions you can show your wife."

There are eight of them up there now, under the pen name Robert Lubrican, and they have started to sell.

Now this is where you come in. I'm not asking you to go buy them. Heck, you've already read them. And they're still posted at SOL in their original format.

But what I could use is a little help from those of you who have read them by going to Amazon and doing reviews of the books for me. That will help me generate interest in them, or so they say.

I'm not going to remove them from either SOL or my web site. My SOL family is responsible for giving me a start and cheering me on, and I'll keep posting everything I write at SOL for my family to read free.

But the fact is that family is relatively small, all things considered, and so I'm not really giving up all that much. While several thousand people read my work at SOL, there are millions of potential customers out there who never heard of either SOL or Robert Lubrican.

And thoughtful reviews by those of you who like my work could really help me get more visibility in the big, wide world.

So please take a little time to go to and click on books, and then Kindle Books. Put "Robert Lubrican" in the search box, and my books will show up. Please don't make fun of the covers. They're the best I could do. I'm learning. But pick the books you've read and do some reviews for me.

I really appreciate this, and I'm going to show it by stopping the renovations for a while, and working on some of those longer stories I told you I'd be doing. I don't know when you'll see anything, but at least you'll know I'm working on it.

And if you just happen to need a present for someone who has a Kindle ... well ...

Thanks for reading.
