Once again, I'd like to thank everyone that has taken the time to download and provide feedback on Oceania.
One of my editors has advised me to place a more sizeable chunk of the story on the site. To this end, I am posting three more chapters tonight with four more to follow over the next few days. The posting schedule for the rest of the story will also advance, and I now anticipate everything being available to read sometime between Xmas and the new year.
Prior to Oceania, I wrote a large story called Megan's World. Despite its title, it is not Science Fiction and is considerably more sexually explicit than my current story. It still requires a little tidying before I feel it reaches a suitable state for publication but in the interim, I'm posting up an extract of Book 2 that can serve as a standalone story and offer a flavour of what I have written.
For one reason or another, I've felt unable to commit to submitting the story so I'd appreciate any feedback to overcome what final reservations remain.
The story itself will comprise five novel length stories of which the first three exist in various states of completion.
Books 1 thro 4 all interleave within the same timeframe and follow different characters within the same universe. A few scenes appear in more than one story but told from a different point of view.
Book 1 tells the story of Megan, a 14-year-old schoolgirl, as she runs away to London in protest against how she feels neglected at home. Sexually assaulted whilst sleeping rough, she's offered shelter by Annie, a warm-hearted street prostitute.
Book 2 follows the fortunes of businessman Dave Palmer who becomes obsessed by Megan when catching sight of her whilst visiting the capital. He sets out to win her heart and she turns his life upside down.
Book 3 is the story of Dave's teenage niece Sarah, and the building romance between her and her new step-brother, Nathan.
Book 4 details the life of Megan's twin sister Gemma, and her torment by an abusive sixth-form bully at her school, set during the time that Megan is missing.
Book 5 will conclude the series, tie up the loose ends and give an indication of where I see the characters finally progressing.
What I have written so far runs to about 500,000 words and I estimate that at least half as much again remains to be written.
On top of this, work has already started on the sequel to Oceania, which I hope to have ready towards the middle to end of next year.
I estimate about a month or two's work to pass Book 1 of Megan's World through my editing team so it's important to prioritize my labour. I'm therefore opening up this opportunity for you to vote on what you'd like to see the most.
Thank you for reading this and look forward to hearing from you.
