summer continues its inexorable return to Central Texas; the sun just fuckin' sucks
so on Tuesday last, "First Star" gets sent to Loose-Id, on Friday i get an email telling me they've received it and i should hear something in six to eight weeks. Saturday i get this:
"Jim, my name is Judith David. I’m the editor to whom FIRST STAR I SEE TONIGHT has been assigned at Loose Id. Your premise and plot are intriguing, and I’d like to read more. Would you be good enough to send the complete manuscript to me, please?"
needless to say, it was on its way to her in mere minutes.
A Softer World is one of my favorite web... well, it's not really a comic but it is i guess... hell, you worry about what it is, i just love it... as an example:

today is mother's day... Happy Mother's Day to the madre of my spawnling and to all of you who are mothers (both literally and figuratively... i'm an equal opportunity kind o' guy). this afternoon we'll be hauling ass to Giddings to take the goat-headed demon that whelped me out to lunch. may get to see my aunt and cousin in the process. fun times. (for those of you just tuning in, i love my mother, but we disagree on many, many issues and it tends to work out that the further away from each other we are, the better friends we can be. i live way too goddamn close to her at present.)
stopped and got a Wii yesterday, primarily so my wife and i will hopefully get our asses up off the couch to play WiiSports with each other. also picked up 'Boom Blox' which is proving to be incredibly fun, albeit rather stressful on my throwing arm. i took unbelievable child-like glee in setting up the internet channel on the Wii this morning and checking my gmail from the living room. color me silly.
