Amulets IV chapters 19 & 20

The new chapters have been sent off for posting.

This weeks chapters open with a narrative by Rick Starling. He explains about himself and Noon. He also covers the end of January payday in Chiang Rai.

The story is then continued by Bill. Later back at camp he gives Rick some advice on talking to Noon about their relationship and marriage.

Bill and Tweed are worried about another attack. They have good reason to worry as on the evening of 6 February both camps are attacked.

The remainder of these two chapters cover the attack and part of the outcome of it. Later there is a report to Desk Jockey. I won't spoil your enjoyment of the battle by giving away any of the details. You must read them for yourselves.

Enjoy these two chapters. There is more next week. A HAPPY NEW YEAR to all of my readers.

Amulets IV, chapters 17 & 18

The new chapters have been submitted for posting.

This week's chapters open with a cold day after payday. It isn't until nearly two weeks later that Bill picks up a strange message in the middle of the night.

The probable location of the transmitter is determined after some detective work, and the Major, Tweed and Bill take a chopper ride to check it out.

An operation is planned for that evening to raid the site. During the raid, Bill shoots one of the men trying to burn the code book, and they take another prisoner.

Bill deciphers the messages and discovers that there is a new threat. That night Desk Jockey is informed of the new threat, and more ammunition and supplies are ordered.

The next night, Desk Jockey 3 informs them that the code book must be sent to 46th Group Headquarters in Lop Buri so they can copy it. Tweed takes the code book to Chiang Rai. Bill is very unhappy when Tweed returns the next day.

Enjoy these two chapters. More next week. Merry Christmas to all of my readers.

Amulets IV chapters 15 & 16

The new chapters have been sent for posting.

This weeks chapters open with concerns over the deteriorating condition of the bodies pulled from the river. Later there is a briefing about what had been discovered.

The courier, Major Carlson, arrives later that morning and is briefed on what has happened.

The cremation takes place that afternoon. Desk Jockey 3 is his usual disparaging self that night. The commo men from the Aviation Detachment arrive to help operate 24/7.

On Payday, Starling, one of the new commo men agrees to join Bill and Tweed to get acquainted with Chiang Rai. Suenee introduces him to Noon, one of her students. Noon takes Starling to see the Wat, have dinner, and to meet her parents.

Things do not go well at the parents' house, and they return to Bill's house. Suenee has them stay there and tells Starling to return to see Noon next payday.

Starling is unsure about seeing Noon again, and Bill explains about the Amulets to him.

Enjoy these two chapters. More next week.

Amulets IV chapters 13 & 14

The new chapters have been sent for review.

This week's chapters open with the establishment of the camp at Nawngh Kam.

Four nights later the Amulets intervene, and set off the Chinese supplies. The following day Baker and Tweed go out with patrols to check some of the sites.

Bill and the Rangers discover a site that still contains Chinese mortars and their ammunition that the Amulets have saved for them. There is much work moving this material, and a few surprises along the way.

Reports of the patrols from the camp at Nawng-awn are received, and all the pertinent news is passed on to Desk Jockey.

Work on the camp continues, and new problems surface before payday arrives again. In Chiang Rai, Suenee warns of trouble coming. There are holiday celebrations at camp that month, but Bill and Tweed are worried.

Days later wreckage is spotted in the river, and a Chinese dispatch case is recovered. There are efforts to interpret it. The Major has an additional assignment for Bill.

Enjoy these two chapters. More next week.

The new chapters have been posted to the reviewer.

This weeks chapters open with the trip to Nawng-awn to select a camp site by the two A-Teams, and Captains Pengdith and Fleming plus some NCOs from the Third Company.

At Nawng-awn there are surprise revelations when they meet a retired Thai Army soldier. Back at the Team House, Major Del Vecchio has questions for Bill, and he works out the problems created at Nawang-awn.

Further surprises occur in Chaing Rai with the revelation that the Team House Commo Chief has lost an SOI.

Bill leaves on Monday the 27th to help set up the camp at Nawng-awn. He returns in time to go on the flight to Nawngh Kam to select the camp site there.
