It's kinda short, but it's an in-between chapter, sort of. As always though, characters and plot develop. Woo. I'll try to be quicker and longer with the updates henceforth, but no promises. I'm also going to try to alternate updates between FNL and BC, though I do work on them concurrently.
I psoted the first chapter/teaser of Bad Company because its a story that's been occupipying my head for a while, and I needed to get it out. Response has so far been positive, other than berating me for not finishing FNL. It is what it is. The next chapter of FNL will be uploaded before the week is out, and it and Bad Company will be updated concurrently. Jumping back and forth will keep things fresher for me, and hopefully spur me to post more frequently.
A few quick points:
1) Think of Bad Company as a rated-R movie. Violence and sexual content will be appropriate to that analogy.
2) A few said my description and codes were slightly misleading. I'll look into that tonight and adjust accordingly.
OK. I've just posted something. It is not, however, a new chapter of Friday Night Lights. While I'm still working at that, I've had this sitting around for some time, and to be perfectly honest I want to know what people think of it.
It's very different in tone than FNL, but hopefully not in quality. This is a story I've been playing with for a while now, and I'm curious to see if anyone likes it. There is no sex and no violence in the first chapter. There will be some sex (I haven't decided how much yet.) and some very graphic violence down the road. The main character is a good man doing bad things, so be prepared.
As always, I love to hear what you think. I very much debated about not posting this, and just trying to concentrate on finishing FNL, but this story has been on my mind a lot as of late, so I'm hoping it will jog my creative streak across the board.
As the Black Knight said once, "I'm not dead yet."
Thanks for everyone who's written, asking of my whereabouts and inquiring into when the next chapter of FNL will be posted. The bottom line is I was hired into a job that starts at 7am, goes 9hrs a day 5 days a week, and, with no air conditioning in the summer, kicks my ass every day. This has all but killed my available time for writing, as most of it was done late at night, a time during which I am now sleeping the sleep of the dead.
I AM still working on future updates; I am NOT abandoning the story, but I can only do what I can do. I'm trying my best to get through the next chapter so that the story can move on.
NOTE: When I post the next chapter, I'll also update probably the last two chapters, as there were certain continuity errors brought to my attention, as well as some things I need to update for story reasons. Just an FYI. Won't be anything game changing though, just minor stuff...so if you go back and reread them, some things may be slightly different.
Lots of stuff going on for me, as usual, but work does progress, as always, on a new chapter. I'm hoping I get it out in March, but no promises. :(
The next chapter I'm thinking is going to be one of the longer ones, because it will cover a lot of ground, plot-wise. Probably not so much time wise. It's also a transitional point in the story, as the main thread of the first part of the story comes to a close, while the groundwork for the main thread of the second part of the story (and beyond) is laid down.
As I've always said, I know exactly how Nick's story ends, and knowing that lets me plan for things way in advance. I think that leads to a rewarding experience for people who follow the story all the way. So keep the faith, dear readers.
