First, I wanted to thank everyone who has e-mailed me. I work a difficult schedule, and it's nearly impossible to do everything I would like, and that includes answering the e-mails I get.
It took nearly a year to write Family Tradition, and I wish I could say I was a good writer, and plotted it all out, using storyboards and plot lines. I didn't do any of that. I write a scene, then another scene, and it continued until I went back and re-wrote the thing into the book form it is in now.
I didn't do all that on the Author, which is why it's hanging now. I'm not happy with where I've taken it, and am considering if I want to start over, lay it aside, or just move along and take it in a different direction.
What do I like? I like to surprise the reader. In Family Tradition, I threw a number of curve balls at the reader, it's in my nature to do that. I was trained to think unconventionally once, and have made it a habit to think that way all the time. I applied it to the story, and think it's an unusual approach.
I like to read, but too many stories are cut from the same cookie cutter. That is why I said I wrote what I wanted to read. I wanted to read a story that the bad guy was really a good guy, the good girl could be better, and they were always destined to be together. I didn't see many stories like that, there were a few, but not many. So I wrote one, and am very happy that so many of you appeared to have enjoyed it.
Once again, thanks for reading my stories, and thank you for the messages. I appreciate them all, even the ones taking me to task for errors or mistakes.
