Actually it's a post-labor day lull.
I have a story appearing soon at Journal of Desire and a few accepted at Ruthie's Club. This has been a surprising year for me in terms of story quantity, and I'm still recovering. I may not write anything new until January 1st; in the meantime I will be adding more of my existing work to the SOL library.

I've been mixing my recent writings with earlier ones to give a fairly full depiction of the range I've covered since I began writing. I'm now dealing with some family health matters, so I'll probably be inactive here for a month or two.
I've been looking at the story ratings and a few things occur to me.
First, thank all of you who take the time to rate. I now need to spend some time reading the other stories on the site and return the favor.
Second, I can see how it might be tempting to select story ideas based on what has gotten high ratings. I'm not susceptible to that temptation, only because my writing muse is a fickle and demanding harridan who doesn't seem to care what I think I want to write about.
Third, I'm fascinated by the contrast between the stories I consider my best and the ones that get the highest ratings. I'm also encouraged by the fact that there's a reasonably good overlap.
Thank you all.

For some reason this past month I found myself riding the tiger of a very productive writing streak. It's over now - I'm in the middle of two stories and they're grinding along at my usual pace. But at times during the past several weeks it was glorious!
Some of my recent output is tagged for specific websites and I can't post it yet, but I'm going to show the others.
Okay, I'm not going to out myself by saying which entry but I will brag anyway that I landed a Dishonorable Mention in this year's competition. Down in the miscellaneous ones but hey, it's recognition.
I'm clearing the decks to get some writing done this weekend. With luck.
