The final chapter (4) of Rookie has been posted. Before I put out my own comments, I am curious about your feedback, so I will wait a few days before putting up my own thoughts.
In addition, after a re-read, I have also posted a short epilogue. No-sex in this mini-chapter, just some background information and fill-ins to help it merge into the general D59 arc.
Next up will most probably be a story in the Neighboorhood universe, but I'm not sure yet. I'll be posting more details on that project soon here in the Blog.

First of all, let me say thanks to all of you who have sent feedback, both positive and constructively negative. Everything helps me improve my writing.
I just wanted to take a moment and talk about where D59 was going.
In the beginning, Quarantine was meant to be a stand-alone story, more of an experiment to get me back in the writing game after a long hiatus. I actually found I quite enjoyed writing it, plus from the feedback I got many enjoyed reading it, so I set up hooks to maybe write another story or two.
As I worked on Rookie, which is a slightly different take on the same theme, I realized that I was stretching my writing muscles a little more than I had expected.
I've come to view D59 as kind of a laboratory for me to explore new writing methods, so my new plan is to keep building the universe with more stories, each one taking its lead from a different genre of fiction. For example, Quarantine focused on the psychological aspects of mind control, while Rookie is inspired by Hentai such as Angel of Darkness. Though it's still just a sketch, a future story might draw from the classic Hammer Horror films..
Some of these ideas will work, probably some of them won't. But either way, I hope they'll be enjoyable.
Chapter 3 of Department 59: Rookie has been submitted. Apparently my idea of switching tracks helped the writer's block, as I am already into chapter 4.
For those of you looking just for some sex, skip down a bit, there is some setup that is necessary to the overall story. Right now it's looking like there will be 5 chapters.
In terms of overall writing, feedback to Maid a Bet was so generally positive, I have decided to spawn its own series, Tales from the Neighborhood, and I will intersperse those with new D59 stories and another more fantasy based universe I am considering. More details about both in an upcoming post.
Apparently heading back to your roots is one way of increasing your read count!
I have literally received more feedback than I have a chance to answer, so I hope no one is offended if I just say thank you here in response to the more general comments.
For those of you who noted specific areas of potential improvement, I appreciate it and have tried to provide a personal response!
