The Babblings of Early Sunday Morning

like any of y'all need any more incoherence in your life.

In all seriousness, although I fail to see the point, other than to reinforce what all y'all already know:

Copy this sentence into your LiveJournal (or in this case, other locations as well) if you're in a heterosexual marriage, and you don't want it "protected" by the bigots who think that gay marriage hurts it somehow.

Wow, what a big shocker, huh? Me and the Religious Reich at odds... who'd'a thunk it?

Because two of my favorite genre authors are going to be there, along with the usual cast of folks, I just got our memberships and made hotel reservations for ConDFW, Feb. 20-22, 2009. We'll be arriving Thursday night, rather late-ish and we'll be heading back to Pfabulous Pflugerville Sunday afternoon.

I am, of course, in all probability going to making a bar call when we arrive. Now whether that's in the hotel bar itself or with liquor brought with us is in the lap of the gods at this point... luckily the rooms are all suites, with sitting rooms, so I can stay up Way Too Late and visit while Dorris crashes out.

Elsewhere in the news, the next several days will have an inescapable undercurrent of tension as I wait to see the outcome of the election.

Wow, so now it's early Monday morning, another glorious night of allergies, waking up at 3 and being oh-so-fucking-happy about it. Seems to be the new schedule... sleep from about 11 till 3, wake up, stay up till I see Dorris off to sleep, then sleep for another 3 to 4 hours. Imagine my joy... you shan't have to try too hard.

"Lost Boys 2: The Tribe" on DVD - this is far from the absolute pile of steaming offal I thought it would be. I mean, okay, Angus Sutherland is Real Pretty, far prettier than Kiefer was... but he's also nowhere near the actor. The plot is, for the most part, believable (as such films go)... although no matter how much fun it is, it has nowhere near the wit or the twists and turns of the first one. Nice cover of "Cry Little Sister" on the soundtrack, nice little cameo by Tom Savini, another surprise cameo during the end credits... all in all, I'd give it about a 7... possibly higher. "Build a man a fire and he's warm for a day. Light a man on fire and he's warm for the rest of his life." - Edgar Frog (Corey Feldman)

One of the Unwitting Pioneers of the Sexual Revolution is Dead

Gerard Damiano, director of 'Deep Throat', is dead.

I seriously recommend the 2005 documentary "Inside Deep Throat" to everyone. Fascinating look at the times, the film, everyone involved in it and the changes the film made to all of society.

It Puts The Gator In The Stew...

OR IT GETS THE FRENCH TICKLER AGAIN!
pay no attention to me, i'm in a happy weird place today.

okay, a juicy blast from the past: Siobhan Lynch's cover of "Stayin' Alive" from the "Supercop" soundtrack... also on that album, Devo's cover of "Head Like A Hole"... Tom Jones covering "Kung Fu Fighting"... some lovely goodness.

work progresses on several projects, which of course means none of them are moving too quickly, and "Oil" ch. 44 is sucking hind tit. trying to whip a story together for an online zine, working on 'saving molly' as well as another 'open arms apartments' chapter... and then there's "oil" which i'm finding myself very unhappy with for some reason.

the rewrite of 'first star' is on hold as i debate a major reimagining of it, reversing the sexes of the two characters in order to better fit it into the romantica market. this would necessitate a lot of other changes as well.

i'm also signing a contract for some work on spec with a game company in its infancy. they liked my ideas, but now i'm faced with the horror of making something of them. maybe it becomes something, maybe it doesn't. but it could be interesting.

now then, it just doesn't get more blatantly ridiculous than that.

The Tribulation Has Ended...

Dorris starts a new job, good pay & killer benefits, not too far from the house (about 10 miles), on Monday. She really wanted this one, likes the people and all, and we were cautiously optimistic about her chances, given the feedback she got from her interviewer.

She shoots from mid-court, nothing but net, three points... GOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAL!

Thank you to everyone for the good thoughts/vibes/prayers.

It's a beautiful damn day!
