Openbook: Stories

This series stems from the original short story Caddymaster, that was written to tell of the adventures experienced by one young boy in the Connecticut of the early 1950's. One story suggested another, and so, from that simple beginning it started to grow, and finally, without my conscious will, it somehow spiralled out of control to become a long series of stories told about several main characters over a span of more than fifty years. It is a story that follows a young boy from the age of twelve right up to the present, more than fifty years later. The stories are mere glimpses that are taken all along the way to show the many experiences that shaped him and helped to form him into the man that he became.

A trilogy about a young orphan boy whose humble beginnings get transformed into a life filled with both opportunity and challenge. In book one, Kenny has to overcome a lifetime of distrust and resistance. In the process of assimilation and integration, the family changes Kenny, but Kenny becomes the catalyst for all of them to change as well.

Jimmy Masters was an orphan at eleven, and the titular head of his dysfunctional family by the age of sixteen. These are the stories of his stumbling and fumbling along, attempting to raise himself far above his very humble early environment.

A series of stories dealing with a young man and his three new neighbors, a divorced woman and her two young daughters. He interacts with all of them, at different times, and in various ways. I haven't quite finished with this series, but I do have a few ideas and some tentative plans.
