That resulted in a working mechanical computer called a Babbage Engine. Lady Ada Lovelace didn't die of ovarian cancer and continued her mathematical work to invent programming. Prince Albert lived to a ripe old age so that Queen Victoria was not left a bitter widow and remained passionately in love with him and lusty. Society follows the Crown. Most XIX Century fiction characters live there, too.
